Newark, Calif., July 29, 2019—PRESS RELEASE—Kukuza Associates LLC, a subsidiary of RoseRyan that helps cannabis companies with finance and accounting, has announced that its CEO, Dave Roberson, has been selected as a member of the National Cannabis Industry Association’s Banking & Financial Services Committee.
In the one-year volunteer position, Roberson will contribute to the committee’s mission of advocating for the cannabis industry’s equity in these fields and fair treatment under state and local laws.
NCIA committees are designed to develop best practices and guidelines that will shape the future of the industry. NCIA is the country’s largest cannabis trade association and industry advocacy organization and has been one of the nation’s most effective lobbyists regarding banking access.
Says Roberson about the new committee position, “I’m looking forward to being a part of such a dynamic group of industry leaders, as we tackle crucial concerns in the areas of banking and financial services that are central to growth. I’m excited to bring the perspective of our clients to the mix as well as my own expertise in business and finance.”
A Silicon Valley powerhouse and the former president and CEO of Hitachi Data Systems, Roberson heads Kukuza Associates, a Silicon Valley-based consulting firm that solely focuses on cannabis companies. The firm draws upon the full strengths and capabilities of its parent company, RoseRyan, which entered the cannabis sector in 2014 and has more than 110 finance and accounting pros.
Roberson was recently featured as a guest on NCIA’s Cannabis Industry Voice weekly podcast to discuss how cannabis companies can thrive in the face of marketplace volatility, and an opinion piece about how companies benefit from having a solid financial foundation was published this month by Marijuana Venture. Earlier this year, he was tapped for an Accounting Today story about the few “pioneering” firms that have dedicated solutions to the accounting and finance needs of cannabis companies.
