The owners of former industrial buildings urged the City Council’s Ordinance Committee on Tuesday to revise an ordinance restricting how close to school zones marijuana businesses can operate.
Under the current ordinance (Section 7.10.4), marijuana facilities must operate outside a 500-foot buffer around certified K-12 schools.
The committee favors reducing the buffer to 200 feet for marijuana growing or cultivation facilities. The 500-foot buffer would remain in effect for retail and similar cannabis establishments.
